The Shah Jahan Mosque

The Shah Jahan mosque built in Woking in 1889 by a Hungarian orientalist named Dr Gottlieb Wilhelm Leitner, was the first purpose-built mosque in Europe. It’s probably one of the most unusual mosques I’ve ever seen, because it looks almost as if someone has placed an ornate doll house in the middle of this land. It may only be able to accommodate 50 or so worshippers for prayer in its main prayer hall, but it’s still a small spiritual sanctuary for sure.
