The Mount of Olives at Night

If you stand on the Mount of Olives where Christians believe Jesus spent his last night before he was crucified, you can see the skyline of Jerusalem sprawled across the horizon. The Dome of the Rock, the crowning jewel of the city, can also be seen glimmering in the distance.

During Ramadan, you can hear the ethereal recitation of Qiyam (night prayer) floating up all the way there. It’s incredible, considering the fact when you’re actually within the mosque compound itself, you can’t hear anything clearly and yet you can hear it from on top of a hill miles away
